Four of our World Media Awards judges participated in a World Media Group hosted Masterclass in Storytelling in London in October – and we’re delighted to bring you the highlights of the discussion during which they identified the essential building blocks for telling great brand stories, referred to real examples of effective corporate brand storytelling and provided some really useful “do’s and don’ts” for branded content. Irene Mia, Global Editorial Director for The Economist chaired the discussion, which included Matt McAllester, Editor of Newsweek; Raquel Bubar, Director of T Brand Studio International at The New York Times and Arif Durrani, Commercial Editor EMEA for Bloomberg Media, alongside Libby Wright, Worldwide Content Lead for MediaCom Beyond Advertising and Maria Dsouza, Content Director for MEC Wavemaker.

The luxury SUV manufacturer was honoured with the award for its innovative communications platform MYLAND (Ardhi in Arabic) which was created exclusively for the MENA region to celebrate the impact the Arab culture has had on today’s modern society.

The winners of the first annual World Media Awards were announced last night at an exclusive VIP event held at The Ham Yard Hotel in London. The World Media Awards, launched by the World Media Group* give recognition to the advertisers and agencies that are creating the best international content-driven advertising campaigns in the world.

A panel of senior international media experts selected from major brands, agencies and media owners chose seven category winners and one Grand Prix winner from amongst the many entries that poured in from across the globe.

The biggest winner on the night was London & Partners whose ‘Official Guest of Honour’ campaign, created by Brooklyn Brothers, picked up the World Media Awards Grand Prix as well as the World Media Award for Travel & Tourism. The team are pictured with their award.
